Johan Elmander leaves Bolton Wanderers to join Galatasaray – EPL news
Turkish giants, Galatasaray SK, have completed the signing of Bolton Wanderers striker, Johan Elmander, on a free transfer.
The club revealed on their official website, "Galatasaray Sports Club has announced the official signing of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Johan-Elmander-c18782 from Bolton Wanderers on Monday. Elmander has signed a contract valid until the end of 2013/14 football season."
Elmander was a free agent at the end of the 2010/11 season after the player refused to sign an extension to his contract with the Trotters. The former Toulouse star has had a wonderful campaign and has scored 10 goals to go along with seven assists this
season. The tall striker has played a huge role in guiding the Lancashire-based club to stay in the top-half of the table and club manager, Owen Coyle, has also admitted that he will be missed.
Coyle last month declared that he will not force the striker to stay and if he wants to move to another club, he would not stand in his way.
“When the season ends, we will certainly have one last go at trying to persuade him to sign a new contract. But if there is a club out there in the top bracket that can offer him the lure of Champions League football, then he will do what any player would.
All players crave that sort of chance.” added Coyle
After the departure of Elmander, the former Burnley manager will look to strike a deal for on-loan Chelsea striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076. Sturridge joined Owen Coyle’s side in the January transfer window and since then, he has been a revelation for the club.
The 21-year-old scored eight goals in 12 appearances for Bolton since joining on-loan in January 2011. The striker has mentioned his desire to stay with Bolton and wants to make the stay permanent if http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 do not guarantee him first-team football.
http://www.galatasaray.org/futbol/futbol_as/haber/10098.phpGalatasaray have had a dismal 2010/11 season and failed to qualify for the next year’s UEFA Champions League. The Turkish giants finished 8th in the league table and are looking to strengthen their squad in the transfer market.
