Johan Lindgren wins third stage of 2011 Glava Tour of Norway: Cycling News
Cykelcity team’s Johan Lindgren won the third stage of 2011 Glava Tour of Norway on Friday, June 3. The race started in Sarpsborg and ended at Halden.
The 24-year-old, Swedish professional road bicycle racer took a total of 4 hours, 1 minute and 6 seconds to cover a distance of 174.2 kilometres.
Jonathan Mcevoy of the Motorpoint team was the runner-up with 4 seconds behind Johan. Jacker Bauer of Endura Racing was in the third place while Henning Bommel (LKT Team Brandenburg) tried his best to catch the other 24 cyclists, but he failed and grabbed
the 26th place with 9 seconds behind Jonathan.
Race leader, Wilco Kelderman of the Rabobank Continental team, grabbed sixth place.
After finishing the race, Joker Merida cyclist’s Christer Rake told the media, “We had to take responsibility themselves. Radobank failed completely to run it on their own. Vegard Breen, Vegard Stake Laeng and Stian Remme drove fantastic, and we can thank
them for that violation was run in.”
With 78 kilometres to go, three cyclists, Roy Hegreberg, Michael Weicht and Ian Bibby took a part in the first mountain, but Roy managed to take a lead of few seconds over Michael and Bibby.
When the race entered in Karlshus, a group of three cyclists made their first break including, Jasper Bovenhuis, Lars Andersson and René Jorgensen.
All of them worked together and built a lead of 4 seconds, but Jasper Bovenhuis had good legs and managed to gain a lead in the first sprint with 4 points.
All of them were caught by the peloton after few kilometres and a new group was formed, Michael Weicht, Ian Bibby and Roy Hegreberg. Michael Weicht gained a lead ahead of two riders and won the last sprint of the race.
René Jorgensen (Christina Watches-Ofone) won the overall sprint classification and Stian Remme (Joker Merida) grabbed mountain overall classification.
Rabobank team’s Wilco Kelderman won the overall general classification with timing of 12 hours, 20 minutes. Daniel Holm grabbed second spot with 5 seconds behind Wilco, while Vegar Robinson Bugge was in third place
The next stage will start in Jessheim and end in Hamar. All the riders will cover a distance of 194 kilometres.
