Johanna Gustafsdottir claims Women’s 200m IM gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Fort Lauderdale
Johanna Gustafsdottir of Golden Panther-F claimed gold medal of the Women’s 200m Individual Medley (IM) on third day of the 2012 USA Swimming Sectionals in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday, July 14.
The 21-year-old Gustafsdottir faced no trouble throughout the four-lap discipline and overpowered her competitors over the finishing end for the crown of the event.
She remained prominent over her opponents throughout the discipline and sprinted her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal by producing a time of 2 minutes and 20.61 seconds.
Gold medallist was chased by Lauren C Piper of Area Tallahassee, who stayed 0.45 seconds apart and snared silver medal of the discipline by producing a time of 2 minutes and 21.06 seconds.
Silver medallist was followed by Megan Moroney of Saint Andrew’s, who suffered a deficit of 1.76 seconds from her foregoing finisher and clocked a timing of 2 minutes and 22.82 seconds for bronze medal.
Third position holder was traced by Emily M Kopas of Davie Nadadores, who remained three seconds slower from her preceding finisher and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth position holder by producing a time of 2 minutes and 25.82 seconds.
Fifth finest spot of the race was obtained by Ashly Isaacson of West Florida Lighting, who remained almost half body length apart and hit the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 26.46 seconds.
The 19-year-old Isaacson was chased by CeCe Williams of Area Tallahassee, who remained 0.37 seconds away from overpowering her former finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 26.83 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh finest spot of the event was obtained by Sarra Lajnef of Gator Swim Club, who stayed 0.35 seconds away and clocked a timing of 2 minutes and 27.18 seconds.
Subsequently, Lajnef enjoyed an advantage of full body length over Jessica Randolph of Plantation-FG, who ended eighth in the discipline by reporting an effort of 2 minutes and 28.03 seconds.
Furthermore, Gustafsdottir aroused hopes of her supporters by saying that she would struggle hard to attain the same at higher levels of swimming.
