Johannes Hagen, Carl Christian clutch Boy’s Doubles title in 2012 MBBC Jr. International
Norway’s spirited duo Johannes Hagen-Carl Christian Hem played flawless badminton against Marius Fartum-Allen Hsu and grabbed the Under-22 Boy’s Doubles title in MBBC Jr. International on July 20, 2012.
This final encounter was staged at Manhattan Beach in California, USA and both pairs kept the audience glued to their chairs while registering final figures of 21-17, 17-21 and 21-16.
The victorious team prevailed in opening and closing segments of the battle and earned the right to raise hands as Champions.
Meanwhile, the opposing team could live their moment of glory only in second set of the match.
Marius and Allen, who belong to Norway and USA respectively, failed to build a productive partnership in first set of the match and allowed their rivals to gain an immediate advantage.
They looked confused right from the beginning and could not come out of this phase until game point situation.
The Norwegian couple relished full benefits of this opportunity and established a comfortable lead with 11-7 margin before the interval.
After one-minute break, they gathered valuable points at steady pace and strengthened their grip with 16-11 total.
Though, Johannes-Carl lost focus in third quarter of the set but it did not harm them much as they won first set with 21-17 score on the board.
However, Marius and Allen did not remain grounded permanently as they rose from the dust in very next set and managed to keep the contest alive.
This time they revived their lost chemistry and outclassed their superior challengers in all areas of the game.
They finished the first half with an inconsequential figure of 10-11 but made difference with a power packed campaign after the break.
They clinched 11 out of ending 17 points and wrapped the crucial segment of match with 21-17 margin.
The twosome of Johannes and Carl showed elevated craft in the decider and survived this battle for the throne.
The team employed all of their experience and brilliance in the game and stamped their supremacy over lower ranked competitors.
They ended the first half as leading contenders with 11-8 and then sealed the splendid victory by registering a winning total of 21-16.
