John Booth: Virgin Racing Team looking forward to second part of 2011 season – Formula 1 news
Virgin Racing Team team principal John Booth has said that he is looking forward to second part of the 2011 Formula 1 season after coming back from the summer break.
Booth added that they want to show better performance at the upcoming Belgium Grand Prix despite getting disappointing results in the season so far.
The team principal discussed the team’s performance in the ongoing season and mentioned that both of the drivers Jerome d’Ambrosio and Timo Glock seemed to make improvements in terms of performance from the 2011 Canadian Grand Prix. He stated that they faced
trouble-free races from Canada onwards and also showed better reliability in the last few races of the ongoing season.
Talking to reporters, Booth said, “Spa-Francorchamps is an excellent track to start the eight-race run to the end of the season. It's a classic race of the Formula 1 season with a mix of high and low-speed corners separated by long straights, making it a
proper mid-downforce track.”
He went on to mention, “It's important to have good change of direction at this track as so many of the corners lead into one another and having a stable rear end at high speed is also vital. The weather is always unpredictable so we will have to be ready
to react during the weekend.”
Apart from that, Booth added that the 2011 Belgium race weekend is very special for d’Ambrosio, as he will race in front of his home crowd over there.
The Marussia Virgin Racing principal said that he is sure d’Ambrosio will do well at Spa-Francorchamps this weekend. In addition, he stated that it will be interesting to see how the team driver’s home crowd supports him throughout the Spa race weekend.
The VRT driver is still unable to perform well on the grid in the ongoing season. Despite his position in the 2011 championship battle at the moment, d’Ambrosio is aiming to show his better performance in the upcoming Belgium Grand Prix.
Let’s see how he manages his race in front of his home fans this weekend.
