http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Marshall-Buchanan-c68302 defends the appointment of Kim Littlejohn - Cricket News Update
Director of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 Cricket (NZC), John Buchanan, has defended the appointment of Kim Littlejohn as the Kiwi selection manager and claimed that there was no biasness in him being given an important role in New Zealand’s cricket.
Buchanan is a former Australian coach and is considered as the most successful coach in the history of International cricket. During his reign, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 won three World Cups on the trot and was the number one team of world cricket without a shadow of doubt.
Many cricket analysts rate http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Buchanan-c48808’s Australian cricket team as one of the best in the history of the sport.
He was made the Director of NZC recently after some poor performances of New Zealand team in International cricket. New Zealand faced horrific defeats in limited-overs cricket off the hands of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747,
where the Black Caps were white-washed in the One Day International series.
Since then, Buchanan has made some drastic changes for the Kiwis and some of the former New Zealand cricketers showed their reservations on them.
However, Buchanan looks very confident about his decisions and referred to cricket as business at the corporate level, where companies look to hire people, who have previous experience of success and claimed that no other nation has enjoyed more success
in cricket in recent history than the Australians. By saying this, he tried to strengthened his claim that the appointment of Littlejohn has been made on merit.
Buchanan said, "Like any business you scout around your opposition and if you see something working well, that is where you go to get their IP (intellectual property) or borrow their people."
The former Aussie coach is very hopeful that the presence of some Australians in the management of NZC will have a great impact on the future of Kiwi cricket.
"Australian cricket has for some time been doing some things well, not just in cricket, but in high performance, so naturally we gravitate there. I don't think the bias is Australian, the bias is looking where the things we need can be best located," he
added.
