“I'm very confident John and I can work well together but we've only had a very brief chat,” said http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Buchanan-c48808 while talking to media. “There's still a lot of discussion between he and I how both roles fit together. In my mind I
think it will work exceptionally well.”
Talking about some disappointing performances of Kiwis over the past few months, the Queenslander agreed that the side has faced some on and off the field issues. He added that he would take it as challenge and will try his best
to make a difference.
“I understand there have been some performances that haven't necessarily endeared the Black Caps to its public, and there have been some other issues around the side as well,” said the 58-year-old.
“But when you come into these roles there's going to be a range of challenges, and that's why you take on the job because you do believe you can make a real difference,” he added further.
He termed the Black Caps as an extremely competitive side and said that they have always ‘punched above their weight.’ However, he opined that he wants the Kiwis to be ‘heavyweight’ contenders and not just ‘lightweight’ contenders.
