John Buchanan introduces revamped selection system for New Zealand Cricket
The director of New Zealand Cricket (NZC), http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Nevile-Buchanan-c68424, has introduced a revamped and fresh selection system for all levels in a bid to streamline the process and use it for the embellishment of the game in the domestic and international arenas.
Under the new system, a National Selection Manager (NSM) is to be appointed, who will work with the head coaches of all First-Class and National cricket teams in order to recruit potential players and train them.
The NSM will be responsible for selecting players for First-Class, List A and national cricket teams of both men and women.
The manager will hold discussions with the head coaches of all the teams before opting for players. However, the coaches will have the ultimate authority to select and reject players.
Commenting on the new system, Buchanan said today, “It is my experience it is important to streamline the number of people who impact on team decisions and team dynamics.”
He further elaborated, “We have therefore sought to simplify the selection process to ensure greater consistency of selections, feedback and integration of playing pathways from youth, through first class to international cricket.”
This move is part of NZC’s efforts to change and improve the standard of the game. As there is an abundant talent of cricket in the country, the board aims at channeling it in a proper way in order to make the most of it.
The Kiwi Cricket Director wants to wash out all the fault lines and prepare the team for competition at the highest level.

Some analysts argue that NZC may resort to incorporating the former National Selection Panel with the new system, but http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754.
