John Bushman clinches Men’s 100m breaststroke gold – USA Swimming Sectionals, Iowa City
John Bushman of Green Bay YMCA-W clinched gold medal of the Men’s 100m breaststroke on third day of the USA Swimming Sectionals at the University of Iowa Aquatic Center in Iowa City on Saturday, July 21.
The 19-year-old Bushman demonstrated his fascinating efforts in the two-lap discipline as he showed his urgency towards the finishing wall for gold medal.
With his alluring efforts, he remained just a stroke ahead of his strongest opponent and made his way to the podium by posting a time of 1 minute and 04.57 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Andrew C Marciniak of Club Hawkeye-IA, who stayed 0.23 seconds apart and secured silver medal of the discipline by producing a time of 1 minute and 04.80 seconds.
Marciniak was chased by Edward A Mapel of Westmont Swim Club, who stayed 0.31 seconds apart and occupied bronze medal of the discipline by clocking a time of 1 minute and 05.11 seconds.
Fourth finest spot of the race was secured by Tariq A Miller of Wisconsin Aquatics, who stayed 0.56 seconds apart and hit the finishing blockade with the timing of 1 minute and 05.67 seconds.
Miller was traced by Tyler E Lentz of Club Hawkeye-IA, who stayed 0.14 seconds apart and finished fifth in the discipline with the timing of 1 minute and 05.81 seconds.
The 20-year-old Lentz was followed by Quillan E Oak of Northern Lights, who remained almost 0.60 seconds apart and proved his mettle for sixth position of the discipline by clocking a time of 1 minute and 06.42 seconds.
Oak was traced by Keanu T Interone of Sterling Stingrays Swim Club, who stayed 0.77 seconds behind and secured seventh position of the discipline by submitting a time of 1 minute and 07.19 seconds.
Furthermore, Cheng-Ping Chu of Una Hwsa-IL, who qualified as the second best swimmer into the final round, was disqualified from the playoff due to a false start and failed to demonstrate his gruelling efforts for the medal rostrum.
In addition, Bushman was pleased with his performance in the event and articulated his desire of continuing the same in future events.
