John Cena becomes the new WWE Champion after winning a Triple Threat Steel Cage Match at Extreme Rules
John Cena won the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) Championship after beating defending Champion, The Miz, and John Morrison in a Triple Threat Steel Cage Match.
The WWE annual event of Extreme Rules was held on May 1 at Tampa, Florida USA. The WWE Championship match was scheduled between the former Champion, The Miz, John Cena and John Morrison.
R-Truth qualified as the number one contender for the WWE Championship, before Morrison had challenged and defeated him to take over his place. John Morrison and John Cena had to take on The Miz for the WWE Championship.
John Morrison entered the ring first with huge appreciations from the crowd. The next to enter the arena was John Cena with a huge pop. Cena made his way towards the ring by saluting the crowd. The WWE Champion Miz was the last competitor to make his way to the ring. As the match kicked off, Miz started climbing the steel cage. Cena and Morrison stopped him and dropped him on the mat.
Morrison then succeeded with his attack on Cena and The Miz by performing his acrobatic moves on both of them. Morrison performed his signature move ‘Star-ship Pain’ on both of his opponents from over the top of the steel cage. That was the most dangerous move of the night.
The Miz and Cena survived the attack but they went brutal on each other. Morrison took advantage of the moment and tried to escape the steel cage. R-Truth made a surprise appearance though and made sure Morrison didn't steal a sneaky victory.
Meanwhile, Miz and Cena prevailed with the fight and they tried every single move to gain that edge over each other. John Cena proved victorious by pinning The Miz, after treating him with his finishing move ‘Attitude Adjustment’.
As a result, John Cena became the WWE Champion for the tenth time in his commanding career. The wrestler was finally successful in grabbing the WWE Championship from The Miz after one hundred and fifty-nine days. Cena's fans were on their feet after his win and the excitement and jubilation of the victory was clearly visible on the face of the new WWE World Champion.
