John Cholish knocks out UFC debutant Mitch Clarke to win bout – UFC 140 Recap
Canadian mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter, Mitch Clarke made his Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) debut at UFC 140. His bout was against American MMA fighter John Cholish.
Their fight took place on December 10, 2011, when UFC 140 was held in Toronto, Canada. Cholish won the bout with a technical knockout (TKO) in the second round.
With the first round in progress, Cholish was able to get his momentum going. He made his strikes with his leg an elbows. Clarke was excited to make his UFC debut but Cholish was not going easy on him. Clarke was able to close
the distance as he tried to lock Cholish in his arms. Cholish was focused as he made a decent counter. Clarke freed himself from the lock and went for the submission move, the kneebar. This was the moment in the fight when Cholish might have thought to be
in the grasps of the debutant Clarke.
The American MMA fighter is still fighting with his concentration, as he makes his attempt to move away from Clarke. Cholish was able to come on top of Clarke as he shifted the balance. The American MMA fighter started pounding
Clarke the moment he got the opportunity. Cholish was striking with his elbow shots from close range and were proving to be effective. He remained on top of Clarke for quite some time and kept giving his elbow shots.
Clarke, who was not willing to lose his debut fight at an early stage of the bout, was trying his best to come out from Cholish’s hold. The Canadian MMA fighter eventually succeeded in standing on his feet but his opponent, Cholish,
was also back on his feet and started advancing towards Clarke for another wave of attack. Clarke was still dazed by the onslaught Cholish brought upon him.
Even after both the fighters were back on their feet, Clarke was not able to concentrate on the fight for some time as he was coming back to his senses. This was another opening as Cholish gave another strike to Clarke which would
have ended the fight but the first round just ended, giving a chance of survival for Clarke.
As the second round began, the American MMA fighter was still aggressive in his stance. Clarke was able to throw some punches but they were either not on target or placed with less force. Clarke seems to slowly lose control over
the bout as Cholish made an attempt to lock Clarke in a submission hold.
Clarke broke free from the possible submission move but Cholish wasted no time in eyeing an opportunity to attack. He started pounding straight right and left punches on Clarke. The referee could only stop the bout as Cholish won
the bout by a technical knockout (TKO) in the second round of the bout.
