John Conger earns Men’s 200m backstroke gold – Swimming news
John Conger of USA earned gold medal of the Men’s 200m backstroke on sixth day of the Swimming events at the 2013 World University Games in Kazan, Russia on Monday, July 15.
The American swimmer crushed hopes of his opponents in the distant backstroke event as he rushed his way towards the finishing end for the title. With his commendable form, he remained in a prominent lead over his challengers and emerged on the finishing
wall for gold medal.
With his gruelling effort, he stayed comfortable ahead of his closest competitor as he emerged on the finishing wall for gold medal by producing an effort of 1 minute and 55.47 seconds.
The champion was traced by Yuki Shirai of Japan, who stayed 1.50 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 56.95 seconds.
The silver medallist was trailed by Jacob Pebley of USA, who was 0.48 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end by clocking a time of 1 minute and 57.43 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Hayate Matsubara of Japan, who settled on the finishing end by clocking an effort of 1 minute and 58.83 seconds.
Fifth finest spot of the event was obtained by Eric Ress of France, who stayed only 0.40 seconds slower and touched the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 59.25 seconds.
Sixth position of the discipline was obtained by Benjamin Stasiulis of France, who 0.25 seconds apart and clocked an effort of 1 minute and 59.25 seconds.
Subsequently, Stasiulis was traced by Anton Anchin of Russia, who stayed 0.13 seconds apart and concluded his swim in seventh place by producing an effort of 1 minute and 59.47 seconds.
Eighth fastest spot of the discipline was obtained by Ryan Michael Bennet of Great Britain, who stayed just 0.01 seconds away from upsetting his former finisher and tapped the wall with timing of 1 minute and 59.80 seconds.
In addition, Conger was overjoyed with his gold finish in the race whereas the winners received medals and accolades for their notable efforts at the prize distribution ceremony of the event.
