John Daly low on confidence as he goes into the Thai event
The bold and gaudy American, John Daly, said that he was low on confidence prior to the Thai event. It seems like nothing is going in favour of the 46-year-old American.
Daly has won two major titles. He won The Open Championship in 1995 and the Professional Golf Association (PGA) Championship in 1991.
Daly has had an extremely rough marriage life. He has been through four failed marriages. The American golfer’s personal life has affected his game throughout his golf career.
This is one factor that can be credited behind the considerable amount of inconsistency in the 46-year-old American’s game.
Daly is capable of exhibiting some extraordinary play but his temperament has hindered his performance all these years.
In the Singapore Open that took place less than a month ago, Daly pulled out of the tournament. When asked to comment on the reason for the withdrawal from the tournament, the distraught golfer said that it was due to fatigue.
The American said, "You never know what you're going to get out of me, you never know what I'm going to do... I don't either".
Daly said in a statement prior to the tournament that he lacks self-assurance going into the Thai event.
He said that, although he hopes to play well and bring out some positivity on the course, as far as going into the tournament is concerned, he is feeling low on confidence.
In the past, the 46-year-old American has had alcohol related problems. He has been involved in numerous incidents that were influenced by the use of alcohol.
In his autobiography, Daly wrote that he has had gambling problems in the past as well. He lost sizable sums of money that he was able to nullify by making paid public appearances and through sponsorship.
On the Amata Spring course, Daly will be seen playing alongside the defending champion, Lee Westwood, and other top players of the Professional Golf Association Tour.
The field line-up also includes the American Bubba Watson and the South African duo, Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel.
Regardless of what has happened in the past, if Daly focuses on his game, instead of other issues, he can surely put up a worthwhile performance in the upcoming tournament.
