John Daly misses the cut at McGladrey Classic
The American John Daly needed a better finish at the McGladrey Classic to have any chance of making it to the 2013 PGA Tour. Instead of making a top-ten finish or something, Daly went on to miss the cut after two poor rounds on Thursday and Friday.
Currently, the senior pro is on the 146th position on the money tour list and he needs to finish inside the top-125 to be able to play on the 2013 PGA tour.
John’s only hope to secure a PGA tour card for the next season is at Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic. He needs to win it or finish inside the top-three to have any chance of securing the tour card.
At the Seaside Course, Daly opened up with an even par round of 70, which included five birdies and five bogeys.
Such a score reflects the kind of inconsistency he has been showing. His performances this year have fluctuated at the extremes. Even between the tournaments, he has registered contrasting results.
Things on Friday worsened for the 46-year-old. He shot two-over 72 in round two, which was marked by an eventful back nine. Daly double bogeyed the par-4 fourth hole before scoring his first birdie of the day on the 9th hole.
On the back nine, he scored two bogeys on the 11th and the 13th hole, before recording two birdies on the 15th and the 17th. John needed an eagle on the eighteenth to make the cut. Instead, he could only manage
a bogey.
If John fails to make it inside the top-125 after the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic as well, then he will be left with no choice but to play at the Q-school for PGA Tour.
The Australian Nick O’Hern was another notable player who missed the cut at the Seaside course. The Aussie needed a better finish too, to have any hope of finishing inside the top 125 in money tour list.
Nick is currently at the 148th position in the standings and will need to play out of his skins at the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic to have any chance of avoiding the PGA Tour Q-school.
Tim Petrovic also missed the cut and he too is in danger of missing out on the 2013 PGA Tour.
