John Daly standing on the 7th place - Reno Tahoe Open

Reno Tahoe Open is providing a feast of birdies and eagles this year. With the Stableford scoring in place, everybody is going big on every hole. Brazilian Alexandre Rocha leads the tournament by two points. Following Rocha is J.J. Henry, who is tied for
T2 with John Mallinger.
John Daly has been pretty impressive in the first two rounds. He is, at the moment, on the seventh spot with a score of 19 points. In the first round, Daly ended up with 10 points and in the second he scored 9 points.
Daly has not been in the best of the forms recently but his decent showing at Reno Tahoe Open means that he is getting back in form slowly but surely.
Daly is just five points behind the leader and in the modified stable scoring system. A five point gap can be closed in just one hole.
The Stableford scoring encourages an aggressive style of play and it gives maximum points for a double eagle.
Stableford scoring was introduced in the late 1800’s. Its main aim was to encourage players to keep on playing with full zeal even if they had a few bad rounds. In the Stableford scoring system, a golfer can overcome the deficit fairly easily and quickly.
This is first time since 2006 that this system has been applied on a PGA Tour event and John Daly is finding it easy to play in this. This sort of system suits John’s game, as he is a big hitter and can strike the golf ball a long distance.
"For me, this is a great format," said Daly. He has made eight out of 10 cuts this season and but his track record at the Reno Tahoe was not that great. However, with the Stableford scoring, he is finding it easy this time around.
"You can get real aggressive. There is a lot of birdie holes out there. The fairways are generous," the long-ball hitter said.
The golf course is not that tough either and there are numerous birdie and eagle opportunities for the players all over. In fact, all the par five holes can be  overcome in just two shots, this is something really amazing.
