John Danks expected to start season on disabled list – MLB Update
The Chicago White Sox starting pitcher John Danks is expected to start the 2013 Major League Baseball season on the disabled list. His surgically repaired left shoulder is still in the recovery process while he needs at least 15 to 20 days to gain full strength.
"With the way I've thrown so far, I get it, it's a little disappointing. A part of me understands that I have some extra time to get ready, and that's what we'll do. We're going to keep working hard. We're going to stay on the five-day schedule hopefully
be active before too long," said Danks, who struck-out only four of the 66 batters he faced this spring.
“I'm just looking forward to being healthy, I feel like we've been on the right track, we're still on the right track. We're getting stronger and better each time. Obviously, the results haven't been there, but there's different stuff that I've noticed from
each start that's improving," said Danks, whose velocity ranged in the 86-88 mph range.
Though, it is not a good sign for the team that one of their top pitchers will not be in the field when the fresh season will start in almost 10 days’ time. However, few experts say that the White Sox will certainly manage John Danks absence and play their
natural game.
Danks showed good performance in the last outing with the team as he achieved consistent numbers of 3-4 win-loss record, 30 strike-outs and 1.49 WHIP.
Not only just in the last season, but John Danks is considered one of the top offensive pitchers in the league and always plays a natural attacking game. His overall career stats also are quite consistent at 4.12 ERA along with 57-60 win-loss record, 744
strike-outs and 1.33 WHIP.
Now since he has been put on disabled list, it is important for him to try to comeback as soon as possible. The team definitely needs him and he also needs to understand that the Chicago White Sox will be hoping for a good start in the season to make it
into the post season and eventually will try to win 2013 Major League Baseball’s World Series title.
