John Davidson reportedly interested in joining Columbus Blue Jackets front office -NHL Update
According to Aaron Portzline of The Columbus Dispatch, former President of the St. Louis Blues National Hockey League (NHL) franchise, John Davidson is interested in joining the Columbus Blue Jackets front office and could be making the news official any
time in the upcoming days.
Right after Davidson resigned from his post with the St. Louis Blues, rumours began to emerge about his meeting with Columbus Blue Jackets owner John P. McConnell, who has the majority of shares in the club, and found it quiet intriguing to possibly join
the club.
One thing that has Columbus fans really excited is to see that a man of Davidson’s calibre is nearing on joining their front office and could set the team straight in the right direction after it has been struggling for more than a decade now.
Another thing that is now for sure is the fact that he has permanently left the Blues, after helping them become one of the best teams in the league, and is ready for another challenge, most likely with the Blue Jackets, something he is ready to do if the
opportunity comes around.
“If the phone rings, I’ll listen,” Davidson said, according to the Columbus Dispatch. “That (Blues) chapter is closed. Now we open another one.”
“The only team I’ve met with during this process is the Blue Jackets,” Davidson added. “And that was good. That was real good. I’d meet with them again, absolutely. We had a very productive discussion, just sharing thoughts and getting an understanding for
what they feel about their franchise.”
One positive aspect of Davidson potentially joining the Columbus front office is that the veteran executive considers the Blue Jackets to be much higher in terms of being able to perform, than the St. Louis Blues were when he took over a few seasons back.
With just a single playoff appearance in the past 11 seasons, fans are looking forward highly to a turnaround and definitely want to see their home team back where playing really matters and the intensity level is just immeasurable.
It will certainly be interesting to see how the whole situation plays out in the upcoming days.
