John Deere Classic: Jordan Spieth ready for another start on the PGA Tour
Jordan Spieth, an American amateur golfer, is set to make the fifth PGA Tour start of the 2012 golf season, at the John Deere Classic, scheduled to start from Thursday, July 12 , 2012.
Spieth is currently one of the best amateur players in the United States. He won the 2009 and 2011 US Junior Amateur championship, the only player after Tiger Woods to win the amateur’s major more than once in his career.
This year, he has continued his great run of impressing the golf community with some good finishes. He performed reasonably well at the challenging Olympic Club to tie for the 21st position at the second major event of the year, the US Open.
He was nowhere in the contention for the opening round and barely made the cut on Friday. Afterwards, he picked some pace and made a strong surge on the leaderboard with rounds of 69 and 70 on the weekend.
According to Spieth, he is playing his natural game and not allowing the tour pressure to make him feel uncomfortable while making any start. As a result, he is playing each event with ease and comfort as the time passes.
“I feel comfortable. Each one of these TOUR events just get more and more comfortable,” said Spieth, who was Rolex Junior Player of the Year in 2009.
“Starting to know a lot of the guys out here, and they're great to me, and that just helps it all. I kind of know where to go now, not getting lost out here. I'm really excited”.
While talking about the course, he commented that TPC Deere Run is one of the most underrated TPC courses in the United States.
He also admitted that it was his favourite TPC course among the five that he has played on so far in his career.
“The course is awesome. It's one of the most underrated, I think, TPC courses,” he said. “I've played probably four or five TPC courses. It's one of my favorites. It's out in front of you, but the little rolling hills and the shape of the fairways, how they
turn into the doglegs, it's fun”.
