It acts like dead battery because when turn the key NOTHING happens. The battery is NOT dead, all lights work. The glow plug light does not come on. It blew out last year but the tractor continued to start. I just counted to 20 before turning the key to start. About 1 month ago this happened and after tinkering with it , it mysteriously started but I have not tried to start it again until today. It has plenty of gas and oil. Thanks

  1. Indeed, this sounds like a safety swithc or a relay not working. Get yourself a mechanic starter switch (it's just a pushbutton thing with alligator clips) and connect the battery to the solenoid. Make sure the tractor is in neutral, parking brake applied. Start the tractor. Is this works, then the problem is related to a safety switch, or relay. Ask your dealer. They usually know because all the same tractort will share the same problem...

  2. There is a safety switch somewhere that is not making contact. I don't know what size tractor this is but all them little safety gismoses have to be in contact for it to start. Seat, clutch, PTO, transmission all them little things you have to do to get it started.

I own a little 28hp kabota and the shuttle shift has to be wiggled in the natural position to get it to start sometimes. It's the safety switch.

  3. Have you tried shorting the starter solenoid at the solenoid? If so is power getting to your starter?Just trace it down with a volt meter. It could be a loose/dirty connection;a safety switch ,a loose ground.
