John Degenkolb wins the tenth stage of the Vuelta a Espana 2012
John Degenkolb of Team Argos-Shimano bagged his fourth Vuelta a Espana victory in the current season after his outrageous performance during the stage 10 of the race.
The cyclist crossed the 190 kilometre race in a quickest time of 4 hours, 47 minutes and 24 seconds and occupied the top podium position.
Nacer Bouhanni of Team FDJ-Big Mat, Daniele Bennati of Team RadioShack-Nissan, Gianni Meersman of Team Lotto Belisol and Manuel Antonio Leal Cardoso of Team Caja Rural occupied the next four positions in the respective order.
John appreciated his team-mates for their continuous support throughout the race, "the sprint was really hard and the final was really just fighting," Degenkolb noted.
"The stage itself was not that hard because we controlled the race all day. The team did a really good job. I say it every time but it's true - I must thank the boys”.
The cyclist is having a terrific season and his other commendable performances in the current season include stage victories at the Tour de Picardie, Vuelta a Espana, Tour de Pologne, Four Days of Dunkirk.
He finished first at the Tour de Picardie, fifth at the Milan-San Remo with a sixth place finish at the E3 Harelbeke 2012.
Adrian Palomares Villaplana of Team Andalucia succeeded during the first and the second sprints of the race while Javier Francisco Aramendia Lorente of Team Caja Rural wins the 14 kilometre Mountain 1 of the event.
The overall classifications remain unchanged as Joaquim Rodriguez Oliver of Team Katusha is leading the overall classifications with a total lead of 53 seconds over Christopher Froome of Team Sky Procycling.
Alberto Contador is further 7 seconds behind at the third position with Alejandro Valverde and Robert Gesink securing the fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
