John Demourkas’ Groovederci claims 2012 Farr 40 East Coast Championship – Sailing News
After putting up an excellent sailing display at the Bert Jabin's Yacht Yard, Groovederci skippered by John Demourkas was able to make an appearance on the racing area and claim the overall title of the 2012 Farr 40 East Coast Championship compiling 41 points.
The team showed great determination from the beginning of the regatta and was able to hit the leading spot of the fleet standings. Despite the fact that the Groovederci crew had a slow start in the event with a 10th finish in the opening race
of the event.
However, after that the skipper gave a new boost to his crew members and working together, they were able to hit the top spot clicking a couple of higher podium positions in the next three races including a bullet in the second race.
No race was discarded from the final scores and the final results were compiled on the basis of race positions in 11 races. Groovederci clinched two bullets, along with some higher finishes, to earn 41 points and claim the winning podium place.
James Richardson’s Barking Mad closely followed the regatta leaders but a couple of poor finishes in the middle of the regatta brought them down on the second podium finish.
