John Dodson knocks out Tylor Dillashaw at The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale – TUF Recap
American mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters Tylor Jeffery Dillashaw and John Dodson fought against each other at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14 Finale which was held on December 3, 2011 in Las Vegas. The event is a production of
the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), which featured a bantamweight final bout between the two American MMA fighters.
With the first round in progress, both fighters took a positive stance inside the UFC octagon. They were in the hunt to get an early strike with their knee shots and kicks but were waiting for the right moment. Both MMA fighters
do weight the same, that is at 135 lbs (pounds) but Dillashaw has a height advantage.
Dillashaw measures at 5ft 6in while Dodson stands at 5ft 3in. The three inch height difference proved to be a big one for Dillashaw as he got leverage in his strikes and punches. He also had a wider reach as compared to the reach
which Dodson had.
Both fighters were focusing on their defensive tactics with moves which were not aggressive but helped them keep some distance over each other. The two fighters moved in to get a lead in the bout with their combos but neither of
the two could get any sort of advantage.
Dodson, who was deceiving Dillashaw in the bout was able to give a left hook shot. The shot was so sudden and impactful that Dillshaw could not recover from the blow. This was the opening which Dodson wanted in the bout. Dodson
remained focus with his hook shots and punched another one. Once Dillashaw was exposed, Dodson kept on with his attack.
The 27-year-old Dodson, who was defensive in the early parts of the first round, was now moving towards the 25-year-old Dillashaw with an aggressive and an offensive strategy. Dillashaw was not expecting Dodson to punch him that
hard with a hook shot but Dodson’s punch was an unpredictable one indeed. Dillashaw could not reply back for he was shaken as Dodson kept on with his attack. The referee had to step in and stop the bout as John was declared as the winner through a technical
knockout (TKO).
