  1. Probably. We screwed now though.

  2. Much as I do not like the original speech, it echos down the years like a bad headache. I am NOT a racist, my Bro In- law is black, I am ex forces and I have served with some outstanding people that are black, white, red, pink, and yellow skinned! It is now Lithuanians, Polish, Romanian immigrants that this speech also now applies to. We are a small 'forgiving island', and we help everyone on the planet more that anyone else on earth in comparison, but it is time that we looked after 'ourselves'.'The UK is still intact, but only just! If that sounds racist, I am truly sorry, but charity starts at home, and our own people are suffering NOW!

  3. Yes - and then we wouldnt be in this bloody mess...

  4. Yes, and we should have made him Prime Minister

  5. And what the heck has this got to do with royalty?

  6. Not one of the people answering this have a clue as to what Powell actually said and stood for.  All the grubby little racists know is the 'Rivers of Blood' speech!

    You should research his speeches and read the history of the times in which they were made.  Asking such arbitrary questions is a waste of yours and everybody elses time.

    You want me to do your homework???

    Two words.

  7. Absolutely! Why was he not heeded? He said what many were thinking at the time and now look at the bloody mess this country is in, and we all know it will only get worse!

  8. we should have.but like always you dont kwon what is good until its gone.

  9. firstly nic nac is an idiot,you only have to look at this country to see he was right.my kids school looks like Baghdad high these days.

  10. Yes and he has been proved right!!!!!!!!!

  11. Anyone doubting this man needs to read "Like the Roman" a very clever man military leader and  professor of his time, he did not simply shout about racism he pointed out the future of this country if we continue to bow to everyone elses needs

    This country needs and deserves a leader who will stand up for the people and actually listen to what this country wants.

    When we were an empire we were ruled by an Emperor

    When we was a Kingdom we were ruled by a King

    Now we are a Country we have Gordon Brown

  12. We should have built a statue of him, so everyone can remember what he stood for....He was the only one with the balls and the guts to speak about what he thought....Many others thought the same but wouldn't stand up and speak their minds......That's why England is now a bloodbath of shootings..stabbings and crime.....And to top it all..They are now thinking of giving foreign criminals in prison £3.000 each to leave the country......Why pay them..Enoch would have kicked them out as soon as they arrived...

  13. No, he was a complete loony. He appealed to racist elements and helped fuel the rise of the fascist National Front and other groups in the 1970s. An evil man.

  14. Anyone with an ounce of sense can see that the uk simply isn't big enough to take this onslaught of traffic!!

    Industry is slowly dyeing here and we will be out of jobs!! then what happens??

    and what about all the organised crime thats not being talked about???

  15. definitely.  He was right in the thing he said

  16. One of our greatest politicians, a rare thing, a man who spoke the truth ! He tended to go "over the top" occasionally, he was a man of integrity who stuck to his guns, his reward from his "friends" was a knife in the back.

  17. What this man Enoch Powell said was different to what people think he said.Powell served in India with the Army and was a man of his time. His speeches sounded racist to some.

    The real undercurrent here is that British people are bleating

    about all the foreign talent that is there to help them run their economy. Its a demographic problem that even the likes of Powell could not solve.

    Like most developed countries Britain has a shortage of people to keep the ship afloat. That's why immigrants are there, to fill the jobs no local person either wants to or can't.

    And also because of the colonial past, many of these people are from the subcontinent and now the continent.

    The chickens have come home to roost.

    Even poor Enoch could not have anticipated the new global

    economy. No states just very big multinationals.

    It only gets  hard if you wish to go back to the Britain of bingo halls, the Morris Minor, and Opportunity Knocks.

  18. Yes, but bigots please remember:

    he helped expose British Army atrocities in Kenya;

    he was a lifelong opponent of the death penalty;

    and he supported legalising homosexuality long before most other people did.

    I don't know why this is in Royalty, though he criticised the Queen for whittering on about the Third World in a Christmas broadcast.  The broadcast, I believe, caused a lot of otherwise Royalist people to turn against the monarchy.
