John Farrell favourite for Boston Red Sox job – MLB Update
Speculations are on the row that Boston Red Sox are finding a new manager after they fired Bobby Valentine on his poor strategies. At the same time Boston's management is currently thinking positive to land John Farrell as new team skipper.
Farrell has been managing Toronto Blue Jays since 2011 but recently he also fears for retaining his job as the top management is not happy regarding his performance in 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Red Sox organisation’s top men have recently met in a round table meeting and talked about potential candidates who possess the capabilities to uphold the franchise’s managerial needs.
Red Sox general manager Ben Cherington is leading the talks between several interested candidates.
Meanwhile, the Red Sox GM Cherington has not spoken to Farrell directly as he still needs permission from the Blue Jays' management to speak to their man in-charge.
“Right now, that’s not what he’s focused on, He’s joined the organization as a special assistant. He’s going to get his feet wet in a lot of different areas. He wanted to take a little step back this year from the daily grind of the clubhouse. He’s enjoying that. That’s what he’s focused on and we’re happy to have him in that role right now,” said Cherington on chances of a potential new manager for the Red Sox who certainly need a good experienced skipper who can also rebuild the offensive strategies for the team.
Red Sox GM added with confidence and told the reporters about the team that lacks from low confidence levels at the moment as he said, “The team is at a different point than it was last year, The results were the results. We can’t restrict ourselves to a certain type of candidate or a certain background or résumé.”
Both Farrell and Valentine have disappointed with their performances this season. Both had good rosters but they just could not make much out from them.
Valentine’s Boston went 69-93 win-loss along with .426 winning percentage while Farrell’s Toronto side proved to be little ahead of Red Sox. While Blue Jays finished with 73-89 win-loss and .451 winning percentage.
