On-loan Manchester City striker, John Guidetti, has insisted that Feyenoord Rotterdam are a massive club in Europe.
The 19-year-old, who arrived at De Kuip Stadion in the summer of 2011 on a season-long loan deal, has been in supreme goalscoring form.
Netting an impressive 18 goals in 19 appearances while providing five assists along the way, the teenager has been named ‘Saviour of Rotterdam’ by the club’s loyal fans.
While talking to the media, the Swedish International revealed:
“http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 are a massive club, the fans make that. Many people have told me there are bigger clubs in Europe but that's as maybe”.
The 19-year-old went on to talk on the bitter rivalry between Ajax Amsterdam and the Rotterdam giants and revealed that the Rotterdammers' loyal fans do not even like using the Amsterdam giants’ name.
“The fans here don't even call them Ajax; they call them '020' - the telephone code. They do not like saying the word Ajax. I know they have taken it too far with me, but it is nice to be called the 'Saviour of Rotterdam'. To hear that is amazing. I am 19”,
Guidetti added.
The young striker has admitted that he has been enjoying his time in Rotterdam and insisted that he has managed to improve his skills further since his arrival at De Kuip Stadion.
“It's been a great time for me. It has given me so much. I have developed as a player and as a human being, taking responsibility. Of course, there are some teams not as good but it's still hard to score”, Guidetti concluded.
The Teenager’s deal is set to expire in the summer of 2012. However, reports indicate that the Rotterdammers management is planning to acquire his services for another season.
Guidetti would be hoping that he keeps on performing impressively in the remaining action of the 2011/12 campaign and help the Rotterdam giants in lifting the Eredivisie title.
