John Harbaugh's Ravens beat 49ers 16-6 on Week 12 Thursday – NFL Recap
John Harbaugh's Baltimore Ravens overcame his brothers’ San Francisco 49ers at clear margin of 16-6 to give a Thanksgiving Day gift to American football's fans on Thursday.
Despite that Baltimore Ravens sacked Alex Smith nine times as they managed to beat San Francisco 16-6. Alex's sacks have tied a franchise record in the National Football League (NFL).
Baltimore were tied at 6-6 at one point, but successfully broke it with a 76-yard. A 16-play drive then lasted for about seven and a half minutes. It ended with an eight yards touchdown pass from Joe Flacco. Flacco had gone four
for 34 yards. He then had a touchdown during the drive.
Ravens were without their key starter Ray Lewis who was on the sideline because of his foot injury. However they made it sure that they come out as victorious at the end.
Overall, the game was dominated by defences from both sides. With this loss, San Francisco's consecutive eight wins streak has come to its end. They are now 9-2 in American Football Conference (AFC) west division.
Since the day had been declared a public holiday in the United States, a large number of spectators filled Ravens' stadium while rest of the nation watched brother against brother in one of their crucial ties of the season on their
screens.
The match has been noted in record books as an historical mark given that it is first time in American football history that two brothers, coaching two different teams were playing  against each other.  Both of them have anticipated
it to be an exciting game, with Ravens players especially backing John Harbaugh, assuring him of a win.
John Harbaugh is Ravens' coach while his brother Jim Harbaugh is head coach of San Francisco 49ers. Both coaches in pre-game conference call had expressed hopes for wins. John specifically addressed his team in his Monday morning
meeting. He called his unit as his family and backed them for a must win.
The win has given Ravens a lead in American Football Conference (AFC) north division. Pittsburgh Steelers who were sharing the lead with Ravens 7-3 now trails behind them followed by Cincinnati Bengals at 6-4.
