John Heitinga to aim for European qualification with Everton – English Premier League

http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Heitinga-c18862, Everton’s Dutch defender who has been used in the midfield area by David Moyes has come out and said that Everton are capable of aiming for European qualification in the new English Premier League season. Everton
are seen as a top table team but they have rarely challenged for a top four spot in the past three to four years due to the emergence of Manchester City and Tottenham as serious contenders for places in the top four bracket.
Finishing amongst the top four teams in the Premier League guarantees a place in the next season’s UEFA Champions League competition but it will be more realistic for Everton to target a Europa League place rather than a UEFA Champions
League place. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wayne-Rooney-c36736 who was sold to Manchester
United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joleon-Lescott-c18941 who was sold to Manchester City.
Selling their top talents has hurt Everton as a club as they haven’t been able to grow like their local rivals Liverpool but Moyes has kept the club steady as he has not allowed them to drift down the Premier League table over
the years despite witnessing a real depreciation in quality of his players. Now http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Louis-Saha-c22459 so it will be interesting to see where they will finish in the 2011-2012 Premier League season.
Last time around Everton had a woeful start to their league season and they remained in the bottom half of the Premier League table as pundits touted them up as relegation material but Moyes’ men recovered in time to achieve a
7th place finish just behind the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 and Tottenham Hotspur. Everton were supposed to kick off their new league season on the previous weekend but riots in London meant that Tottenham’s match against the Toffees was postponed so Moyes’
team now take on Queens Park http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 next weekend as they look to embark on a historic league season yet again.
Heitinga remarked in his recent interview, “This year I am feeling good. It is the first time for a while I have had a longer pre-season – especially after last year with the World Cup – and I am feeling fit and looking forward
to it, hopefully it will be a good season for us and hopefully we can show the fans that we will fight for every point. It is up to us now as it is our first game and they are new in the league and we need to beat them and make sure we have a better start
than last season,”
He added, “But in my eyes Everton should at least play in the Europa League and we will do everything we can to get there”. Everton will look towards the likes of Saha and Cahill to remain fit throughout the season and guide them
to a top six finish come the end of the 2011-2012 Premier League campaign.
