John Henry praises Kenny Dalglish for Liverpool's revival
Liverpool owner John Henry has praised manager Kenny Dalglish for his role in the club’s phenomenal turnaround this season. Under the guidance of the legendary Scot, Liverpool have climbed out of the relegation zone and into sixth place in the Barclays Premier
League table.
John Henry believes that Dalglish’s appointment as manager has revived the struggling Reds. He admitted that previous manager Roy Hodgson failed to make the impact he had hoped for, leading to his dismissal after just six months in charge.
The Liverpool owner said, “The philosophy we were playing under (with Roy Hodgson) didn't seem to suit the club and we knew we had to make a change. We knew we wanted to change the type of football we were playing, we wanted to move to a much more positive
pass-and-move philosophy.”
Roy Hodgson oversaw Liverpool’s worst start to a season for more than 50 years, leaving them floundering in the relegation zone at one point. Henry says he had no choice but to sack the former Fulham boss, appointing fan-favourite Kenny Dalglish instead.
Henry said, “I talked with Kenny (Dalglish) about it (taking the manager’s chair) and said we needed someone to come in for six months and stabilise the club on the field and the club in general. But I can't imagine how anyone can be more beloved by fans."
He added, "I know for a long time now he (Dalglish) has wanted to be in this position so it is a great thing for the club, for Kenny, for us."
The change in tactics has certainly worked for Liverpool so far. The Reds have managed to establish a winning streak of four games. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 Meireles’ goal in the 66th minute sealed all three
points for Reds.
If things continue like this, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 might just break into the top four this season to secure an unlikely spot in the Champions League. Let’s see whether they can keep up their sensational form when they face Wigan on 12 February.
