John Higgins advises Michael Leslie for upcoming snooker season – Snooker News
After performing outstandingly in the 2012 European Billiards and Snooker Association (EBSA) Under-21 Snooker Championship, Scotland’s Michael Leslie was able to win the title after beating Shane Castle by the score line of 6-2 in the final encounter at
the Dedeman Hotel in Sofia, Bulgaria. Due to this scintillating performance, Leslie clinched a place in the pro tour of snooker for the next two years.
Qualifying for the pro tour was indeed good news not only for Leslie but also for other big names of snooker from Scotland. One of those big names is none other than the former four-time World Snooker Champion, the Magician John Higgins who has been on top
of his game in the previous two snooker seasons.
Despite the fact that Higgins was unable to win any major ranking snooker event in the 2011-12 Snooker Season and tumbled down in the rankings but still the Scotsman performed convincingly to retain his current place in the World Top 16.
Higgins believes that Leslie has a tremendous talent in snooker but he must be careful now because he will be facing some of the toughest opponents of the game who will definitely give him some troubling time. The Wizard of Wishaw has warned him to play
carefully against those strong opponents that include him as well.
In his interview with the local media, Higgins said pointing Leslie, “Just like Michael, I had won a number of Scottish tournaments and joined the circuit with plenty of confidence. However, it was very different back then as a lot of the players I was playing
against were older and on the way out of the game.”
He added, “Michael is going to be up against quality opposition all the time. There will be a lot of talented young players in the same boat as well as a number of seasoned pros who will be very hard to beat.”
The new snooker season will begin with the Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 1. Leslie has been placed in the qualifying session of the 2012 Wuxi Classic and the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open where he will be meeting other rookies of the game who made
their way into the pro tour.
