John Higgins all set to start his season campaign – Snooker Update
During the proceedings of the 2012 World Snooker Championship, the snooker governing body, World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) added more snooker events in the new season which made some of the top potters angry because they did
not want to play all the year.
Former four-time World Snooker Championship winner from Scotland, John Higgins was one of them who opposed the decision.
The Scotsman believed that the players will not be able to spare time for their families and friends if they go on taking part in every single snooker event of the new calendar. On the other hand, he wanted a break in the season because he has a family to
take care of. The reigning World Snooker Champion from England, Ronnie O’Sullivan also opposed the decision and decided not to take part in the new season events.
However, as far as Higgins is concerned, the Scotsman is now all set to start his season campaign with the upcoming snooker events. In his recent remarks on the return of the game to Scotland after two years, he said that he needed a break and now he is
feeling ready for the game. He might appear in the 2012 Shanghai Masters snooker event.
While speaking to World Snooker, Higgins said, “I feel that I need to prove myself again after such a bad season. I've been practising hard for the last ten days and looking forward to getting started again.”
Higgins is currently at home and is practicing on his personal table that he has installed. The Wizard of Wishaw has got his new cue stick which he believes will play an important role.
He added, “The cue was made by Trevor White and I'm really happy with it. You never know for sure until you use it at a tournament under pressure, but so far it feels good.”
Higgins will be looking forward to make an appearance in the upcoming major events that are starting in September. It will be exciting to see what type of impact Higgins will have on the new snooker season as many new younger players are eager to battle
it out with some of the senior members of the circuit.
