John Higgins believes watching Michael Leslie play in pro tour will be interesting – Snooker News
New snooker season is all set to commence within a week with the qualifying sessions of the 2012 Wuxi Classic and the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open tournament. The snooker governing body, World Snooker has released the list of players who will be taking
part in the next two seasons. Scotland’s Michael Leslie is also one of those potters who have qualified for the pro tour.
The young Scotsman earned the pro tour place after performing brilliantly in the 2012 European Billiards and Snooker Association (EBSA) Under-21 Snooker Championship as he clinched the title beating Shane Castle by the score line of 6-2 at the Dedeman Hotel
in Sofia, Bulgaria. The young Scottish potter played outstandingly from the beginning to lift the title and book a place in the pro snooker circuit.
Former four-time World Snooker Champion, Scotland’s John Higgins is quite happy with Leslie’s selection in the pro tour for the next two years. The Wizard of Wishaw has advised the youngster to play with utmost care as he will be facing some of the strongest
opponents during his season campaign including him.
He has played against Leslie in his run and knows his strengths. Higgins believes that Leslie can make an appearance in the circuit and can produce a good run in the coming season. He appreciated Leslie’s playing style believing that the youngster has full
confidence and can bring fireworks on the table.
While speaking to the local media, Higgins said, “I played a game against Michael last season and he seemed to have really grown in confidence and this has helped him. He is a very heavy scorer and you need to be these days the way that the game is played.
It will be interesting to see how he gets on.”
The 37-year-old added, “I think the next two years will be like an apprenticeship where there will likely be more lows than highs. It is easy to get down- hearted when you lose matches but it is important that he handles defeats in the right way and learns
from them.”
The new snooker season will begin next week with the qualifying session of the 2012 Australian Goldfields Open.
