John Higgins determined to make a strong comeback in upcoming 2011 UK Championship in December
Current World Snooker Champion, Scotland’s John Higgins dominated the 2010-11 Snooker Season with his splendid form. The Scotsman clinched three major titles last season, the 2010 UK Championship,
2011 Welsh Open and the most prestigious 2011 World Snooker Championship. In the previous couple of months, Higgins registered 18 victories out of 19 matches that he played.
The 2011-12 Snooker Season hasn’t been going well for the champion, as he has not been playing up to his standards. In the very first tournament of the new season, Players Tour Championship
(PTC) Event 1, the 36-year-old crashed out of the event in Round 1 at the hands of Dechawat Poomjaeng, followed by another first round exit in 2011 Australian Goldfields Open at the hands of Matthew Selt.
However, the Lanarkshire potter managed to reach the third round of PTC Event 2 at the South West Gloucester Academy where he lost to Ali Carter by the score line of 4-1. The Wizard of
Wishaw has not been able to recover his previous form so far and has been tumbling down in the current season.
While speaking to the local media, Higgins admitted, “I've just not started yet, I've not put enough work into my game. After the World Championship I wanted to enjoy some time off with
the family. We're not used to starting the season this early, although I think it's great that we have such a busy calendar now. I need to start afresh and get some momentum going again.”
The four-time world snooker champion is happy to play in the 2011 UK Championship at its old home, the York Barbican Centre where it held from 2001 to 2006,and hopes to revive his form
in the tournament. This year, the Scot is defending the UK Championship title he won in 2010 beating Mark Williams by the score line of 10-9 bouncing back from 5-9.
He spoke about the UK Championship, “I've got plenty of time and plenty of tournaments before then to get back to my best. I've never been known for making great comebacks so that has
to go down as my best one. I would love to win it again this year but it will be tough because there are so many good players.”
The 2011 UK Championship will commence from December 3 to 11 at the York Barbican Centre featuring top guns like Mark Williams, Judd Trump, Ronnie O’Sullivan, Neil Robertson and John Higgins
from World Snooker.
