John Higgins disappointed over his performance in 2011-12 Snooker Season – Snooker News
Environment at the World Snooker Academy is quite thrilling as the qualifying session of the 2012 World Snooker Championship is about to end and after that the eventual line of the mega event will be finalised. The defending Champion, Scotland’s John Higgins
is looking forward to the challenging and tussling encounters in the event.
The Wizard of Wishaw is aiming to retain his title but on the other hand, he is a bit worried about his performance in the Championship. That is because he feels disappointed over his current form in the running season and believes that his cue stick did
not spark according to the standards. However, he has not lost his hopes and is practising hard to make it up to the expectations of his fans around the world.
While speaking to the media about his worries, Higgins said, “The season’s been very bad so far, I’ve not played well at all and I’ve not been putting enough effort into my game, but I’m hoping to rectify that. I go away next Friday and hopefully I can get
two weeks’ good practice in and play well. But it’s getting tougher every year.”
He added, “I’m getting older and the players are getting younger and better, and maybe my eyesight’s going a little bit as well. But I still think I’m good enough that I can maybe go down and win it.”
Higgins will be meeting the winner of the final qualifying match between the former World Snooker Champion from Ireland, Ken Doherty and the Englishman Anthony Hamilton. The 36-year-old is hoping for a positive result in the Championship and is practising
at the baize to play impressively in the event. Despite his poor performance in the season, Higgins is confident that he will give tough time to his opponents.
The qualifiers will be concluding on April 17 at the World Snooker Academy and the opening round of the contest will begin on April 21 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. It will be exciting to see how Higgins manages to defend his Championship and build
some much needed confidence in his game.
