John Higgins feels 2012 World Snooker Championship will be tough for Judd Trump
First-round competitions of the 2012 World Snooker Championship have been started at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield with top dogs of the game in action. The defending Champion from Scotland’s John Higgins is all set to continue his dominance in the event.
He clinched the title last year beating the 2011 UK Championship winner, England’s Judd Trump in the final by the score line of 18-15.
The Scotsman is quite positive for his run in the Championship but on the same hand he also feels that this event will be tough for Trump because the Englishman is in good form and people have associated a lot of expectations from him. Trump had a tremendous
snooker season and grabbed a couple of important events including the 2011 UK Championship.
The Bristolian potter is drawn against the Welshman Dominic Dale in the opening round of the tournament. Trump believes that the competitions will be quite interesting because he is in good shape and is fully prepared for any challenge. However, the reigning
Champion thinks Trump needs to be focused on his game because there will be a lot of competitions for him.
While speaking to the media, Higgins said, “It's going to be tough for him because he's fancied now and he's obviously the favourite for the event. If someone had said to him last year when he was going into the event, 'Next year, you're going to be favourite
for it', he wouldn't have believed you, but it only goes to show how far he's come.”
The Wizard of Wishaw added, “Obviously there's lots of people out there who want to see him go back and go one better. I know why I'm not the favourite. But making Judd the favourite? I think you could make the case for a lot of players.”
Higgins has successfully made his way into the second round of the 2012 World Snooker Championship after beating the Chinese cueman, Liang Wenbo in the first round by the score line of 10-9. It will be exciting to see how Higgins puts in a good performance
during the 2012 World Snooker Championship.
