John Higgins planning to bring fireworks in 2012 World Snooker Championship – Snooker News
Current snooker season did not bring any good news to the reigning World Snooker Champion from Scotland, John Higgins as he was unable to win any major snooker tournament during his campaign in the season. Nevertheless, the Wizard of Wishaw is not hopeless
and is aiming to spark his cue stick this year in the 2012 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre.
The 36-year-old was unable to play up to the mark in the recent season and tumbled down to lower rankings in the professional circuit. However, he showed a couple of impressive performances in some major events but still was unable to win any event. Higgins
is quite disheartened about his form during his 2011-12 Snooker Season campaign.
The last tournament he played was the 2012 China Open snooker event where he crashed out at the hands of the eventual Champion and former World Snooker Champion Peter Ebdon. The Scot believes that his game in the China Open snooker event was a bit hard for
him especially his game against Ebdon because despite playing well, he lost the contest.
Speaking to the Press Association Sport about his experience against Ebdon, Higgins said, “It was (hard), because I felt I played well. I had two glorious chances in the last frame and I couldn't take them, and taking chances like that has been my hallmark
over the last three or four years.”
The Scotsman is hoping to retain his title to remain on top of the potters’ fleet this year as well. The Wishaw cueman is feeling confident of bringing fireworks at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield as he reckons he will be the most prepared cueist in the
line-up.
He said, “The only silver lining I'm going to take into the World Championship is that I'll be the best prepared I've been all season, because I'll have had two or three weeks of hard practice behind me which I've not had for any other event.”
He will open the mega event with his first round match against the winner of the final qualifier match. The competition will be quite tough for him though but he is all set to face any challenge.
