John Higgins features in the European Snooker Championship in Bulgaria: 2011-12 Snooker Season
Scottish snooker legend, John Higgins is in Sofia, Bulgaria where he will hold a snooker demonstration for Bulgarian players as a motivation for them. The world number two was invited by the Bulgarian
Sport Minister, Svilen Neykov, as a guest in the 2011 European Snooker Championship, being held at the Dedeman Hotel in Sofia.
The Scotsman reached Sofia on Thursday, June 16 and had a meeting with Svilen Neykov, who served him with Bulgarian wine. The Sports Minister of Bulgaria was quite happy to have the World Snooker
Champion in his country on their invitation. Higgins’ presence at the arena will definitely be a memorable moment for Bulgarian snooker players and they will never forget this moment.
On the other hand, the Wizard of Wishaw was also excited to see snooker stretching to other parts of the world and he hopes that the game will continue prospering across the globe. He also hoped Bulgaria
would organise some major ranking events too, in near future.
While speaking to the Bulgarian media, the four-time world champ said, "I am pleased that snooker is enlarging its geography and I hope Bulgaria will host more high-ranked snooker tournaments."
The 2011 European Snooker Championship has moved into its last stages as it ends on Friday, June 17 at the Dedeman Hotel in Bulgaria’s capital city of Sofia. The 20-year-old Irishman, Vincent Muldoon,
has made it to the final match, already beating England’s Martin O’Donnell 6-4 in the semi-final on Thursday, June 16.
The 2011 Welsh Open winner, Higgins had a controversial yet splendid last season with three major ranking tournament victories. He also faced corruption charges and the tragic event of his father’s
sudden death when he was at the baize in Berlin. However, he did not let his determination and love for the game down at any moment during his campaign last season.
The 36-year-old Higgins must be looking ahead to participate in the 2011-12 Snooker Season which begins on Saturday, June 18 with the commencement of 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event
1 at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield. The World Snooker Champion will definitely be the man to watch in the new season.
