John Hopkins back at Rizla Suzuki for second will card entry at Brno, Czech – MotoGP news
John Hopkins will reappear in a Rizla Suzuki livery at the 11th MotoGP round due to take place at Brno, Czech Republic.
In his second wild card entry in MotoGP class, he will be on board the second GSVR for Suzuki factory team along Alvaro Bautista.
John Hopkins said, “It’s a real thrill to get the opportunity to ride at Brno and I’m really looking forward to it. I’m very pleased that we have been able to achieve it because it is something we have been working on for a long time.”
Earlier in the season, Hopkins was called in to ride in place for Alvaro Bautista as he was suffering from a fractured left femur. The Spaniard crashed during the practice run of the Qatar Grand Prix and missed the Qatar and Jerez GP after that.
Hopkins said, “To be honest it couldn’t be at a better track for me either, I had my best result in my MotoGP career at that track and I’m really pumped that I am going there again. As far as the Suzuki goes, I think it’s a great bike and the package is
a lot better than when I last rode it in 2007.”
After his first ride on a MotoGP Suzuki machine at Jerez, he feels that there has been a lot of improvement to the GSVR since he last piloted it in 2007. Recalling his last attempt at Jerez, he is confident of performing even better.
He also admires the opportunity to race as a teammate to Alvaro Bautista rather than being a substitute as both riders on the track can be more beneficial in terms of improving the bike and sharing the information collected during the practice runs. This
will bring the Suzuki GSVR to a new level of performance.
Finally, he was extremely grateful to the Japanese manufacturer, Suzuki to let him enjoy the premier class ride including his graces for his British Superbike team Samsung Crescent based in England.
