John Isner and Nicolas Almagro confirm their participation in the US Men’s Championship –Tennis News
At the US Men’s Clay Court Championship 2013, the top 15 players of the South African Airways ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Tour Rankings, specified their opening entries. The event will be held from 8th to
14th April at the River Oaks Country Club. Leading tennis contenders, John Isner and Nicolas Almagro, have confirmed their participation in the tournament.
The news got confirmed just when the “Champ Pass” pickets when the put up on sale, as they need to be advertised before the tournament starts.
The event director, Van Barry in an interview told the media, “We pride ourselves on being a United States championship as well as the nation’s only clay-court ATP tournament. To get early commitments from the top American as well
as one of the most accomplished clay-court players on Tour really helps us achieve both of those goals. We look forward to John coming back to River Oaks and welcoming Nicolas for the first time.”
The 27-year-old, Almagro, pocketed his triumphs three times in the previous five seasons. He had an outstanding career record of 206-97 on the clay courts. He joins the league of King of Clay, Rafael Nadal, David Ferrer and Tommy
Robredo, as they are only efficient players displaying several breath-taking entertaining matches. He has contested 18 times on the clay courts with 12 titles. His Spanish compatriot takes the lead by an exact total of 36.
The world number 11, Almagro secured a relatively better pace at the US Open held at the hard courts of New York. He bagged away his three-set defeat against the Czech professional Tomas Berdych. At the Valencia Open, he struggled
hard to sustain his winning lead but lost at the hands of higher ranked David Ferrer.
The American professional, Isner, is ranked world number 14 and is the top ranked amongst all the American challengers. He was the runner-up at the 2012 Championship, as he lost at the hands of Juan Monaco in the final. He bagged
home two titles this year securing five from 12 finals. He is renowned for his powerful serves and he had set a record of 1000 aces.
The organizers of US Men’s Clay Court Championship will soon announce their main seeded players and their complete schedules in a weeks time and promise a great tennis tournament for their fans.
