John Isner is better than ever – Tennis News
American tennis icon, John Isner, has made his mark in the world of tennis with some breathtaking performances this year. He has ousted the likes of Swiss Maestro, Roger Federer, and the reigning world number one, Novak Djokovic,
which is definitely a mind-startling achievement.
In an interview about his supreme performance this season, he stated, “I knew going into this year that I had the tools and I had the game to be able to at least compete with these guys. I take the court no matter who I'm playing
expecting to win and believing to win. There's really no reason to take the court if I believe otherwise.”
When the Serb tennis ace, Djokovic, lost a match to the 6’9 tall American tennis icon, he stated, “With that serve and with that forehand he's got the ability to be a Top 10 player. He had that already a couple years back. It's
just a matter of really trusting your instincts and your strokes and your quality. I think it all came together for him now, and he's deservedly in the Top 10 now.”
He is currently ranked 11 in the world and has already broke into the Top-10 players of the world this year but slipped one spot courtesy to a miserable run in the Sony Ericsson Open at Miami. However, his overall performance this
year has been monumental and made him one of the biggest threats to any top seed players in all kinds of tournaments.
He was the finalist in the major tour of Indian Wells but failed to record a win against the former world number one, Roger Federer. Just like the Russian tennis icon, Maria Sharapova, he has been performing consistently throughout
the season but hasn’t been able to grab any titles. Both these players are going through the same state of mind and their title drought has not ended to date.
Other big names that fell into the trap of the giant American include the Argentine class act, David Nalbandian, and Frederico Gil. It must be interesting to witness an encounter between the second ranked tennis icon, Rafael Nadal,
and the tall American. Both players like to grind their bodies to win encounters. Isner have an advantage of tall height but the Spaniard has his world class forehand return that is unplayable. The clay court season has started and Isner will look to have
his hands on the Spaniard who is known as the king of clay.
