John Isner wants to team up with Serena Williams in mixed doubles in Olympics – Tennis News
Former world number one, Serena Williams, is alarmed by the most improved player in the men’s tennis circuit, John Isner, to look after her mailbox on regular intervals. He is aiming at tying a knot with the younger Williams in
the mixed doubles category for the London Olympics, later this year.
He mentioned in a press conference held on Tuesday regarding Olympics, “I may be the odd man out. But I’m pretty good friends with Serena. Might need to bribe her, maybe send a gift in the mail to get her to play with me.”
The 6’9 tall further added, “Obviously, she’s one of the most dominant players ever. To have her on my team would be a big advantage.” Isner must have been eyeing Williams performance over the course of year and seeing her stunning
showdown at Charleston earlier this month, he would be bidding as high as he can to have her on his side for the mixed doubles team. If these two power houses join hands, they will definitely be one of the toughest teams on earth to beat.
Obviously when there are so many talented players available from this part of world, there is always a competition and Isner will have to supersede the likes of Bryan brother, Andy Roddick and Mardy Fish to win the heart of one
of the most successful active tennis ladies.
Isner took over the number one American tag from Mardy Fish by breaking into the Top-10 players of the world for the first time in his professional career. He is ranked at the ninth spot just one above his compatriot, Fish. He
is the best option considering his ranking at the moment but Bryan brothers have all the experience in the world in doubles category that can run against his favour.
Williams was earlier recorded to have said, “A girl loves to have choices,” she said. “Obviously the Bryans are like the world’s best doubles players. Andy and I are super, super close. Personally I love John. You’re not going
to break the guy. I think it’s so hard to choose. I don’t know if you just throw everyone’s name in a hat and figure out what happens next.”
There might be a possibility that Williams personal liking turn in favour of Isner. Everything is still undecided but these two players are most likely to team up together for a shot at the mixed doubles gold medal.
