John Kear not sure what direcction his career will take in the near future - Rugby
Wakefield Trinity Wildcats coach, John Kear, acknowledges that he does not know where his future is heading because his departing season with the Wildcats is not going so well. With the end of his five-year term with Wildcats, Kear also believes that his
side is far better than the Castleford Tigers and did not deserve to lose on Saturday, August 20.
This match was very crucial for Tigers, as with the win from their last encounter, Tigers were able to restore their hopes for the play-off position .The Wakefield were certainly out of full form but this did not upset them the least as they had already
booked their Super League licence until 2015.
Kear joined in the Wildcats in 2006 and will be all set to leave by the end of this season. His future still seems murky as it was admitted him too. While speaking about his future plans Kear added, “We’re trying to finish the season on a high, then I will
be taking a holiday at the end of it. I’m looking forward to that and that’s when I’ll get down to the nitty-gritty of where do I go from here? I want to continue in club coaching, very much so and I think that’s why it is the right time to leave, because
a change does reinvigorate you.”
Kear also mentioned that his term with the club has been a very tough ride, as there was a pool of problems which needed to be dealt with and they continued to be the constant source of tension for him.
While referring to the set of incumbent difficulties which he had to face up to, the most prominent one was in keeping his franchise part of the next upcoming Super League games. This struggle throughout his five years at the club has been constant. However,
the franchise won its unexpected Super League license as the Crusaders pulled themselves out of the licensing process for the league games until 2015.
Kear further added that change is what he is looking for in his career while clarifying that his desire to continue club coaching has yet not burnt away. According to him this decision has been taken with a mutual consent of the franchise and him.
Terry Matterson who coaches the Tigers added, “The challenge is to put the Challenge Cup defeat behind us. We can keep feeling sorry for ourselves or get back to what we’ve been doing that has put us in this position.”
The blend of major blows in terms of recent loss of the semi-final show down of the Challenge Cup and high injury-toll have pushed down the Tigers from their much stronger position which they had boasted during the initial part of the season.
