John Kear’s believes his last game in rugby league was a perfect finish - Rugby League
Wakefield Trinity Wildcats’ outgoing coach, John Kear, believes that his team has given him the perfect exit from his club after five and a half years by winning 26-14 win over the Bradford Bulls in yesterday’s clash.
By bagging this crucial win over Bulls, Wakefield have managed to avoid the wooden spoon, giving a perfect departure to their coach. Kear is well pleased with his team’s performance, as they have achieved their goal of not ending up at the bottom of the
league ladder.
By saving themselves from having the wooden spoon this year they have conquered over Crusaders, who were also hoping to skip the wooden spoon status. However, Crusaders have earned this regretful status for the second time in three years. This has further
aggravated their downhill ride in the wake of their pulling out of the Super League licensing process. Crusaders’ withdrawal from Super League will oust them from Super league game until 2014.
However, Wakefield’s success cannot be undermined despite their tough situation within the league standings.
Sharing about the brilliant farewell shown by his squad on Friday, Kear mentioned that he is happy with his squad because they have graced him with an opportunity to be part of the historic moments of the club.
While speaking about his widely celebrated victory over Bradford, Kear added, “"If you finish a chapter in a book and enter another chapter it must be a good finish and that's what that was. I'm over the moon for the players because they've done it tough.
It's been very hard this last couple of months. We've copped a lot of teams with a lot to play for with a lot of quality in them. Today they stood toe-to-toe and eye-to-eye with the opposition and they came up with a good win. And it was a good win with some
good rugby league.”
Kear further named a host of players who outshone during yesterday’s clash. Amongst those few he applauded Glenn Morrison, Mike Korkidas and Julien (Rinaldi)’s performance. He also went on and added that Jeremy Smith has played his best game yesterday.
