John Louis in form for targeting the Dubai Duty Free Handicap
The Class 2 Dubai Duty Free Handicap has attracted seventeen three-year-old and above runners for the mile, two furlong and six yard race at Newbury on Saturday, 22nd September. The race is flooded with entries who have the potential to improve
and are trying their luck at the £43,575 prize money.
Getting stuck with a fifth place finish after striking a back-to-back is the four-year-old chestnut gelding, John Louis. The Philip McBride trained has scored decently in the handicaps throughout the 2012 campaign, and has credited quite a few as wins against
his name.
Today will be the first time that he will race at Newbury.
He won the Fly London Southend To Faro Handicap on 9th June, 2012 at Newmarket over a mile and two furlongs. The winner defeated the line-up of ten contestants by 2 ½ lengths.
Racing from the third gate in partnership with jockey, Raul Da Silva, the four-year-old soon drew clear from the competition, however, the isolation was short lived because by the time the last three furlongs were to be raced, the Wood Farm Stud bred was
sucked back into the field.
Another furlong down and Bertolini’s gelding found his own racing space once again. Racing on with determination had him setting Troopingthecolour into the second slot.
His next winning stop was the Celebrating Newmarket – Historic Home Of Horse Racing Handicap on 14th July, 2012 at Newmarket over a mile and four furlongs. This time around he shared success with jockey, Raul Da Silva.
The chestnut gelding out of, Native Ring, did not take very long to set into the pace, however, his dominance was challenged in the second last furlong of the race by the reeling in rival, Sohar. Holding on to the conviction just during the final strides
of the race had him taking refuge in the final half-length.
Just when the hat-trick called in, John Louis ducked down to the fifth position at Ascot on 11th August, 2012.
He will be paired up with jockey, Raul Da Silva, and the duo will take on the field of seventeen from the thirteenth gate.
