Forget the polls, pundits and handicapping. The surest sign that McCain is in trouble is not the unconventional pick itself, nor his panicked rush to select a teammate he'd barely met. The evidence is in the campaign's strategic emphasis -- co-opting change however possible. Everyone knew McCain was trying to define himself by running from Bush's message, (despite backing him over 90% of the time). It turns out he's also running towards Obama's message, defensively trying to cast his ticket as a change agent that will, as Palin says, "challenge the status quo in Washington."

  1. Good point.  Now he needs a gimmick to fire up the base...

  2. His running mate pick is just the latest in a long line of coming around to Obama's way of thinking.

He mocked Obama for the 18 month troop withdrawl timeline before agreeing it was a good idea.

Ran into the ground the joke about correct air pressure before once again, agreeing it was a good idea.

Based his attacks on Obama not having the experience then goes and picks a runner-up beauty queen political neophyte.

    And of course, Change.

I'm wondering if he'll just do the decent thing and retire from politics when he loses in November.

  3. He changed.

  4. John McSame is washed up.

There's no way he's going to win this election with his campaign in such disarray.

Have you every noticed that he rarely makes any public speeches anymore. The only 2 that he has made--is the one he tried to outdo Obama the day after he got the Democratic nomination.

The second will be when he gets to speak at the GOP convention next month.

But every "town hall" meeting he's done--he's done out of earshot of the public eye and off camera.

However, once he gets ON camera, he's going to be eaten up by his anxiety and indecision--while Biden and Obama thump both him and Palin in the debates.

  5. People are getting behind Obama's message so McCain is trying to get closer to the left. When he picked Palin he said she is what we need to get away from "the old washington politics"

Isn't that pretty much Obama's slogan? lol

  6. liar ad flip-flopper

  7. and i see by your question , you have bought into the Obamabull! i keep wondering when people are really gonna open their eyes . i been a mom and i can tell when my kids are telling me exactly what they think i wanna hear, so i can surely tell it with an rookie like Obama. Mccain doesnt have to pretend to know what to say and what to do, he already knows.
