John Mabry promoted as St. Louis Cardinals hitting coach – MLB Update
St. Louis Cardinals has taken a bold decision which according to many experts will surely make things more viable for them in the coming days especially in the next Major League Baseball season.
They promoted assistant hitting coach John Mabry to hitting coach and placed him in-charge of all the batting responsibilities of the team.
Cardinals’ 2012 Major League Baseball season hitting-coach Mark McGwire has recently resigned while Mabry was already assisting him which made the Cardinals more aware of giving the job to a person who has established a demonstrative relationship with all the players instead to a new individual.
"The contributions made by our coaches have helped to assure a winning culture throughout the Cardinals organization, We are fortunate to be in a position to have such talented coaches within our organization who are at-the-ready when opportunities at the big-league level arise," St. Louis Cardinals' General Manager John Mozeliak stated in a statement released by the team and explained in detail about the latest development.
Later Cardinals' manager Mike Matheny said, "I could not have been more impressed by the way these coaches went about their business last season, and I am excited by the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead as we continue to grow as a team."
Regarding Mabry’s role as hitting coach, experts in the MLB agree that this is a very good development in the Cardinals franchise.
Mabry is a talented individual and possesses some extraordinary skills. Though his managing skills are yet to be explored as he is into any kind of coaching and managing jobs for very short time, but this is for sure that he had a diverse career in the Major League in his 14-year professional playing years.
He had played for eight different teams in the MLB and wherever he played, he learned different things from each of the franchise.
Starting his career in the 1994 from the Cardinals’ platform, Mabry went onto play for the Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres, Florida Marlins, Philadelphia Phillies, Oakland Athletics, Chicago Cubs and Colorado Rockies.
These all teams contributed well in his grooming as a player and now as a Major League hitting coach.
