John Major quits MCC committee – Cricket News Update
Disagreements over the reconstruction plan for the historic Lord’s cricket ground has led to former British Prime Minister, Sir http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Major-c68296’s resignation from the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) committee.
The Marylebone Cricket Club confirmed in a statement that the club has accepted John Major’s resignation following differences with the committee over the direction of policy on the vision for Lord’s.
"MCC has accepted with great reluctance the resignation from the club's committee of Sir John Major because of fundamental disagreements over the direction of policy on the Vision for Lord's; the manner in which decisions have
been reached, and their wider implications for the Club," read a statement from the MCC.
Last month, the MCC committee had devised a summary plan for renovation of the historic venue under the banner of "Vision for Lord's". In an MCC committee meeting held on November 30,
the committee had voted against determined renovation plans for Lord's and instead went in favour of a stand-by-stand project to improve the ground.

Paper work on the renovation process of the ground under the title "Vision for Lord's", has been underway since 2008 at a cost of £3 million.
The radical options considered in the plan included construction of flats at the Nursery End and making use of
use of the underground tunnels. But in the November 30 committee meeting, the decision to undertake more controlled renovation was taken, which is more likely to begin after the 2013 Ashes series. The revised redevelopment plan
includes rebuilding of the Tavern and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Allen-c43742 Stands at the Pavilion End.
Major said it was a tough decision for him to end his association with one of the world's pre-eminent cricket clubs.
"For me cricket has been a lifelong and enduring passion and it will remain so," said Major while talking to the media reporters on Thursday. "The solace the game has given me in good times and bad…will never fade. My decision
to resign from the committee of the world's pre-eminent cricket club has been reached with very great sadness,” he added further.
Major wished the other members of Marylebone Cricket Club committee good luck for their future deliberations.
