John Mallee will be their hitting coach for next year.
He will be aware of the loop-holes prevailing in the Astros’ offence and how to fix them. Houston floundered this year just as they did last season.
With their dismal performances in the seasons continue, the top management is immensely concerned about the future.
They are trying everything at their disposal to make sure they can improve and register a vastly improved win-loss record in the upcoming year.
Most of the team officials are of the view that their players are talented. Only if they get proper guidance, they can turn out to be consistent performers for the team.
For the same reason, the Astros are extremely focused on acquiring veterans in their coaching staff.
Their manager Bo Porter is pleased as he believes the likes of Mallee in the coach staff is a healthy addition for the Astros. He is excited to work with new appointees in the club and develop co-ordination with them.
General Manager for the Astros, Jeff Luhnow pins high hopes on his new hitting coach.
He expects him to be working with psychological aspect of the players and help them develop confidence in their abilities.
"We strive to have the best coaching staff in baseball to teach and develop our players and to instill a winning mindset for our club," said Jeff Luhnow. "This is an exceptional group of individuals with varied experiences and proven track records in coaching
at the highest levels."
Luhnow appears to be extremely optimistic about the Astros after the induction of new coaches in the team.
Other than Mallee, Dave Trembley has also been posted as coach of the club.
"A manager is only as good as his coaching staff and I'm confident these four will contribute to a terrific staff that can help us accomplish our goals," said manager Porter.
It will be interesting to observe the kind of strategies these new coaches employ and more importantly the results that will follow due to them.
