Question:

John McCain: Too rich to be president?

Recently, I heard a radio add for the Democratic party that ended with the words "John McCain-too rich to be president." The major gist of the add was John McCain's gaff about not being sure how many houses he owns.

Yes, it's pretty odd that a man would not know how many houses he owns, but exactly what is this supposed to be saying? Every person who has ever been president in the history of our nation HAS been rich.

In 2004, the Democratic party presidential ticket was John Kerry, whose net worth was estimated to be $1 billion, and John Edwards, whose net worth was in the area of $50 billion. It was the most wealthy ticket in the history of American presidential campaigns.

John McCain's net worth is estimated to be between $21 million and $32 million. But the same people who are saying McCain is too rich were campaigning in favor of John Kerry.

So, if Kerry and Edwards weren't too rich to be president...why is John McCain?????

P.S...to be fair. Aside from the millions they have raised for the presidential campaign, Barack and Michelle Obama's net worth is supposed to be in the neighborhood of $2 million.

  1. They are all rich and it seams like they get much richer than the salary supports.  I don't understand this.

  2. I guess to hold an elected high office in the United States one must be a dollar millionaire.

  3. Bush was and is rich. Every one has been rich for the last umpteen years. Most went to Ivy League Schools. politics is a touchy subject. The old saying is the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Most of  us don't have the money to donate to offset the income they have coming in. All presidents are paid a hefty amount until they die after they leave office.

  4. No, but I know a lot of people too dumb to be voters!
