John Millman receives a shock by Michal Przysiezny in the semi-finals – Dunlop World Challenger 2012
Seventh seeded, John Millman, received a straight-set shocker at the hands of the Polish rival, Michal Przysiezny, in the semi-finals of the 2012 Dunlop World Challenge Tennis Tournament held the Taraflex courts of Toyota, Japan.
The Pole senior jumped forward and consolidate his straight sets win, 7-6(3), 6-2 on the eve of Saturday.
The right-hander Aussie participant displayed a remarkable start in the opener and cashed his challenger’s initial serve in the second game. He skilfully nudged forward to attain his lead and marked a 3-0 lead proving his superior
potential right from the beginning. Nonetheless, Przysiezny didn’t lose hope and struggled with a strong resolve to take the front line. He hooked his destined break in the seventh game and levelled the score line in very next game. The two players held theirs
serves until the end, and continuously oscillated the lead to square down the scores after every alternate game. Eventually, the lower ranked Pole surprised his rival by taking the lead in the tiebreaker round and stole the show with a 7-6(3) score line.
In the second set, the 23-year-old, Millman lost his passion for the game and the right-hander Polish professional cashed on his initial serve. Przysiezny sustained his lead and bagged away the initial three games without facing
any challenge. Despite of the Aussie’s attempts to rally forward, he was unable to withstand his competitor. The Pole qualifier sustained his transcending pressure, pocketing away Millman’s last game, closing the match with an outstanding 6-2 lead.
Ranked 198th in the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) World Tour Rankings, Przysiezny, received the upper hand by his relatively higher initial serve precision of 68 percent. He thundered forward by firing nine
aces but also committed five double faults. He secured an outstanding first serve conversion of 36 of 40 first but just seven of 19 second serve points. The higher ranked Aussie secured 54 percent initial serve accuracy with just three aces in retaliation.
On the other hand, Millman pocketed away 24 of 37 first and 16 of 31 second delivery points. Overall, the Polish contestant won 71 points for the next round.
The 28-year-old, Przysiezny, manifested a remarkable performance since the start of the ATP Challenger. Before this match, he surprised the third seeded Italian, Matteo Viola. He collected his straight sets win 6-4, 6-4 and marvelled
his fans. If luck favours he can surely march forward against the fifth seeded local participant, Hiroki Moriya.
