Question:

John Morrison's title history ?

I know many of you agree with me that one day John Morrison will be either a WWE or WHC champ. My question is where does his reign as ECW champ stand ? Would that not also be a World title ?

I know the ECW title these days is on par with the IC or US title, however at that point when he won it WWE was still hyping the ECW title as a major belt. At one point when Big Show had the ECW belt he put it up against the WWE & WHC at Cyber Sunday.

  1. I think that him as ECW champ will still be a big deal. It used to be a big title when he held and I think his reign will still be remembered as if the ECW title was a big deal/ big title

  2. The WWE does consider the ECW Championship a world title. However, Pro Wrestling Insider does not. And PWI is pretty much THE authority on pro wrestling. PWI currently only recognizes the WWE, WHC, and TNA belts as world titles, and they considered the ECW belt a world title back in the old school ECW.

I think that the ECW title should have been a world title while it was held by RVD, Big Show, and Lashley. But once all those mid carders started winning it (punk, chavo) I think it really lost some credibility.

It's on it's way to becoming a world title again, but as of right now, I agree with PWI.

  3. i agree maybe he will stand as that champion you re thinking of

  4. I agree with te 1st 1

  5. Agreed,  Morrison is a future World Champion.

The ECW Title is not a "World" Title.  The WWE can call it what they want, but where it really counts (with the fans) it is a minor WWE Title.

The WWE tried to make the fans believe it was a World Title when Big Show held it.  They brought in big names from RAW and Smackdown to challenge Show to give credibility to him and his Title.  But Morrison didn't defend against Undertaker, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, etc.; Morrison's ECW Title was defended against mid-card wrestlers.

I think in most fans' eyes the last ECW "World" Champion was RVD.  After Van Dam was screwed out of it by Paul Heyman, no less, the title became truly a WWE Title to most fans, and thus, lost it's status as a World Title.

I don't really think anybody considers Morrison's reign as ECW Champion a World Title reign.

  6. Yes, I'd say that qualifies as a World Title reign.  I think in reality, the prestige of the ECW belt is = the IC and US titles, but technically, it is indeed a WORLD title, and therefore, is a slightly more important belt to have won.

  7. Its debateable about were his ECW title reign would fit. Some consider it a World title, some don't. It really seems to be depending on Champion to Champion basis now. I would say it will not be looked at as a world title reign in the future. Absolutely agree with you that Morrison is a future WWE World Champion

  8. Im really unsure about Morrison being a future WC. Sure he has some moves, and sure he has a style on his own.... BUT>>>>>> he seriously needs to attend acting classes (possibly public speaking courses too.) The guy is seriously boring to hear on the mic. I mean Randy Orton has more charisma that John Morrison (and Orton has NO mic skills whatsoever.) And nothing he says seems believable.

And to top that off..... He really does not attain a massive response from the MAJORITY of the audience (as a tweener, heel, or face). That is what people seem to have forgotten is the hall mark of a real champion. Any wrestling champion has had the distinction of being able to get a reaction from the crowd (whether good or bad). Without getting to the crowd, things only appear that much more fake. (Thats why CM Punk is not fairing very well as a WHC champion or as the ECW champion. And thats also why Shelton Benjamin is not doing to good as the US champ)

(I don't want to appear to just bash the WWE for this oversight.... because the same thing is happening in TNA, remem Christian Cage??? Abyss??? Tomko???)
